The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, says the massive investment of his administration in education is not a waste.He explained that education was one of the critical tools to combat poverty and secure a future for the state.
Ambode spoke after swearing in a new Permanent Secretary and Tutor General for Education District Six, Mrs. Olabisi Onadipe, on Tuesday.
He said the investment in education and continuous empowerment of teachers, were to develop young Lagosians to take on the challenges of the future. He advised the new appointee to see her appointment as critical to the future progress of the state.
Ambode said, “A lot of attention is given to ensuring that only officers with credible records of performance are appointed into leadership positions in the public service. The global rating of Lagos State requires that only the best hands are engaged to drive the key sectors of the state economy.”
The new permanent secretary expressed her gratitude to the governor for the appointment, promising to discharge her duties effectively and efficiently.
